The Easiest Batch Cocktail for Holiday Parties

Providing a fully stocked bar at the holiday party or making individual drinks on the fly can be an overwhelming task for any host.
That’s when a big bowl of fizzy champagne punch steps in to add the festive flair. A spiked drink with champagne bubbles is easy for guests to self-serve, and with punched-up homemade ice cubes, this festive citrus and pomegranate punch adds joy all around.
Especially when paired with savory nibbles like baked brie, spanakopita, or puff pastry pigs in a blanket, this refreshing punch is the ultimate party libation.

Heidi’s Tip: Make Your Own DIY Ice Cubes
Part of the attraction of this holiday party punch is its wow factor. I made my punch extra cheers-y by freezing ice cubes with pomegranate seeds and mint leaves. They’re super easy to make and add a true festive flair.
Start by adding a few mint leaves to to the slots of the ice cube trays. I found using the larger leaves helped hold the pomegranates so they didn’t all drop to the bottom. I also moved the seeds to the outsides of the ice cube tray slots to show them off.

How to Make Festive Champagne Punch

To prepare this easy Champagne punch for parties, simply combine the following in a punch bowl:
- Pomegranate juice — Such as POM Wonderful. So that the punch stays colder longer, chill the juice for at least 4 hours before serving so the ice cubes don’t melt off right away.
- Orange juice — I like using pulp-free juice, but use whatever kind you like (just make sure it’s 100% juice, and not from concentrate).
- Orange flavored liqueur — Such as Grand Marnier.
- Champagne, prosecco, or other sparkling wine — For the bubbles!
- Seasonal fruits — I like to add thin slices of orange to the punch for a “punch” of brightness. Pomegranate seeds liven up the bubbles, too.
Heidi’s Tip: Want to make this a sparkling non-alcoholic punch? Simply substitute the champagne for sparkling cider or orange-flavored sparkling soda.

Make-Ahead Instructions
This punch is perfect for assembling a day or two before serving.
- Make your ice cubes 1 week or even 1 month ahead of time and keep them frozen until ready to serve.
- Mix the juices and store them in juice containers in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Slice the orange and seed your pomegranate up to 2 days before serving.
- Combine all of the ingredients just before the party!

Holiday Champagne Punch Recipe
Ingredients
Ice Cubes
- water
- ⅓ cup pomegranate seeds
- ½ cup mint leaves
Champagne Punch
- 4 cups pomegranate juice , well chilled
- 3 cups orange juice , well chilled
- ½ cup orange-flavored liqueur , such as Grand Marnier
- 2 (750) ml bottles Champagne , well chilled (prosecco or another sparkling white wine may be used)
- 1 orange , sliced
- ⅔ cup pomegranate seeds
Instructions
- Make the ice cubes: Place 1-2 mint leaves in each space of an ice cube tray. Divide ¼ to ⅓ cup of the pomegranate seeds among the ice cube spaces. Fill with water and freeze for 4 hours or longer, until solid.
- Make the punch: Mix the pomegranate juice, orange juice, and orange liqueur in a large punch bowl over the ice cubes. Add the champagne and stir. Add slices of orange juice and the remaining pomegranate seeds to the juice and serve. Add more mint leaves as garnish if desired.
